Today on this 2006 Jeep Liberty, we're going to show you part number HM56203. This is the Hopkins Custom Taillight Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles. This is what we get in the kit. This is our actual wire harness right here and this is actually a T-connector that plugs into the factory wire harness. This one with the green wire will actually go to our passenger's side. This is our converter that contains all our diodes to protect the vehicle from the towed vehicle and here's our T-connector for the driver's side. We have a nice, long length of wire that comes out to a 4-pole end and it also comes with its own little cap. Some dielectric grease for the connection points and some hardware for the ground and also hardware for a mounting bracket for the 4-pole, which would be optional. Also some zip ties to help zip tie the wires. Of course, any time you do electrical it's a good idea to get a bunch more zip ties than what you need because chances are you'll run out. Pretty simple. Let's go ahead and install it. To start off our install, we need to go ahead and remove the taillights. There will be 2 torx screws we have to remove and we'll be using a T20 torx bit. After the 2 screws are loosened up, we can go ahead and pop it loose. We're using a plastic pry bar. These are a couple of press fittings that we need to loosen up and then here's our electrical connection we have to remove. There's a little red key here or a lock that we have to push back. Works best with a screwdriver. Then we push down on this tab right here to release it. The screws for this light are at a different angle, so using a very long extension you can go ahead and reach it and undo them. Once again we'll push in on the red tab and then push that down and release it. There. We'll just set that down to the side for now. Now we'll go ahead and start working with our harness. We'll take our 4-pole and we're just going to drop it straight down between the opening of the bumper cover and the sheet metal. Next, we're going to do the same exact thing with our T-connector with the green wire. We'll make sure we get all our slack out and we can actually make our first electrical connection. One of the T-connector will plug right into the taillight. Push it in until it clicks. Push the red lock back into place and then your other half will plug into the rest of the wire harness. Set that to the side one more time and we'll take 1 of the zip ties and attach our little converter here to our wire harness. We'll just zip tie it. We'll go ahead and cut off the tails to our zip ties, then we can go ahead and put our light back into place. Tuck our wires back in. Now we'll go underneath the vehicle and we'll take our T-connector side with the green wire and we're going to route that across and up to the other taillight. We'll run it over top of our hitch here and go on up. Definitely want to make sure we stay above the exhaust. This would be a good point to use some extra long zip ties other that comes with the kit to secure the wires to the top of the hitch. To help us run our wire from the bottom to the top, I'm using this old piece of airline tubing. This also could be a piece of wire or anything you can run down there and use and pull back up. Just attach it with some electrical tape and pull it to the top. There it goes. Just like before, we'll go ahead and make our electrical connections. One end will go to the wire harness on the vehicle and the other end will go to our taillight. Let's go ahead and make sure we take up all the slack in our wires and we'll zip tie them to the factory wire harness and secure our excess. Let's go ahead and put our taillight back into place now. We'll go ahead and take our 4-pole wire and we'll go ahead and route that towards the front. Basically, we just ran it down through our hitch right here and zip tied to it. When we pull we try and stay above all lines and moving components and zip tied it along the way wherever we could. We're on the outside of the spring here, on top of the brake lines. We basically followed these lines all the way up going towards the front. Once we got past this cross member here, we actually tucked our wires and hid them behind this heat shield here. That's where things go a little tricky, but we we're able to pull down just a little bit and push them in. Now we have our wire leftover here. We need to go ahead and route this u
