I don’t like turn-based games. I never have. So why on earth can’t I stop thinking about Mewgenics? This is my first impressions review after jumping into one of the weirdest indie releases of the year. Developed by Edmund McMillen (The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy), Mewgenics mixes tactical turn-based combat with a completely unhinged cat breeding system and somehow it works. You breed cats. Kittens inherit perks. Those perks stack across generations. And before you know it, you’re genetically engineering absolute feline monsters. Even as someone who still isn’t sold on turn-based combat, I couldn’t help but get hooked on the progression loop. The mutations, the chaos, the unexpected builds, this is the kind of experimental madness only an indie developer would commit to. In this video: My honest first impressions How the breeding system works Why it’s so addictive And whether it’s worth your time If you love unique indie games or just want to see some completely broken cat builds, you’re in the right place. Let me know in the comments: What’s the wildest mutation you’ve created so far? #IndieGameiacs #Mewgenics #IndieGames
