It's on the short branch line which runs from Brockenhurst to Lymington Pier with a half-hourly service. This level crossing has an unusually squeaky-sounding high pitched alarm on one side. A single unit serves the line each direction every half an hour by running back and forth along the line, and this same train can be seen in all four clips featured in this video. The barrier down time here was also surprisingly short for Lymington-Pier bound trains. This level crossing is one of a handful integrated with a traffic light system for a junction, though in this instance, the junction only caters for a side road into / out of a housing estate, and the traffic lights for that only turn green when a waiting vehicle is detected or when the level crossing is about to activate. As the level crossing is activated, an 'all-red request' is administered, turning all traffic lights for the main road over the crossing to red, yet turning those facing the housing estate to green. Two traffic lights on one side of the level crossing turn red before the other two at the junction, and then around 2-3 seconds later, the level crossing activates. This system is shown working with the level crossing in this video, as to prevent stopped traffic from blocking the level crossing whilst waiting at the junction. Also, apologies about the awful noise heard coming from a van at the start of the video. Thanks for watching!
