This video was recorded on April 24, 2015 and first uploaded on our former deleted channel on April 25, 2015. ** ABOUT THE BUS ** The Mercedes-Benz O405G was the most common articulated bus operated by SMRT Buses until their full retirement in 2020. It was first procured by the Trans-Island Bus Service (TIBS) in 1996, where a demonstrator unit was flown in by a cargo plane for evaluation by the operator. In 1997, TIBS procured 56 production units of the buses in Hispano Mark I bodywork. This was later followed up with the procurement of an additional 29 Hispano Mark II, 208 Hispano Habit and 21 Volgren units between 1999 and 2004. The Hispano Mark I buses were fully retired in 2014, followed by the Hispano Mark II buses in 2017, Volgren buses in 2019 and Hispano Habit buses in 2020. ** ABOUT THE SERVICE ** Service 300 was introduced on 16 December 1990 by the Singapore Bus Service (SBS) as the second feeder service in Choa Chu Kang New Town. It serves the residential blocks along Choa Chu Kang Ave 4, Ave 1, Ave 3 and Way and connects them to the Choa Chu Kang Town Centre. It was enhanced to serve Choa Chu Kang Ave 2 on 22 August 1994 and operated as a bi-directional feeder service briefly between 1997 and 1998. As bus services in Choa Chu Kang were progressively transferred to the Trans-Island Bus Service (TIBS) in 1999, Service 300 was handed over to TIBS on 29 August of that year. Under TIBS, Service 300 was enhanced to serve the new residential blocks along Choa Chu Kang Ave 5 in both directions on 31 October 2001. With the introduction of Services 301 and 983 under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), Service 300 was amended out of Choa Chu Kang Ave 5 on 25 April 2015. This video shows the route of Service 300 before being amended out of Choa Chu Kang Ave 5.
