Every farm, ranch or Homestead needs a chainsaw. For us, that is an Echo 351, backed up with the big dog, a Husqvarna 262. It doesn't take too long before you need to sharpen your chain! Hand sharpening will only take you so far as even the professionals will acknowledge that you have to get your chain on a bench chain grinder ever 5 sharps or so to reset your angles and take down the gullets. I have been sharpening chains for about 35 years and like to think I can throw a sharp that will 'pull bark on both ends' of the chips! Here is how I do it! Like anything, no matter how good you think you are - you only get better by listening to your mistakes. So if you see I am doing something wrong or could do something better - feel free to give some constructive feedback in the comments! 00:00 Intro cut 00:45 Introduction to a small echo and a big dog Husqvarna 02:38 Types of Chain .325 and 3/8 04:42 Removing the chain 06:28 Setting up the Bench grinder angles 10:50 Sharpening the chain 21:00 Inspecting our sharp job 22:55 Putting the saw back together 25:35 Taking down the rakers 31:33 Final test cut!
