Welcome to Norse Myths, Legends, and Folktales, where MyLinda Butterworth of Totally Stories interprets the written word for your listening pleasure. Today we learn about what happens to Brynhild and Gudrun’s daughters in “The Last of the Volsungs .’ After Brynhild died, Heimar feared that Giuki's vengeful sons would slay Aslog in order to stop the Volsung line. So Heimar made a harp with a secret space to conceal the child in and took her and some of her treasures to Norway. They dwelt in a house in Spangerejd, and one day the housewife perceived that there was a treasure in the harp when she saw some rich cloth hanging out. That night while Heimar slept, he was murdered, and the housewife and her horrible husband took the child and her treasures. Aslog was treated poorly and made to work as a servant, they clad her in rags, and nicknamed her Krake so no one would see her beauty. Eventually, Ragnar Lodbrog landed in Spangerejd where he met and married Aslog...but that is not the end of the tale. Now Gudrun's daughter was named Svanhild, and she was given as a wife to Jormunrek, king of the Gauts. She was like a sunbeam wherever she went. Bikki did not really care for the girl, so he made up a story that Svanhild had been unfaithful to the king with another prince, and this outraged the king, so he ordered her to be put to death by being trampled under the hoofs of horses, but she survived without a scratch...but that is not the end of the tale. To know the whole story you will have to listen in. #NorseMyths #Aslaug #SpokenWord #audiobook #audiobookfree #MyLindaButterworth #TotallyStories #podcast #ragnarlodbrok #Svanhild #aslog #volsung If you are enjoying my story videos, please... 💵 Support my efforts to keep the stories coming by joining me on Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/user?u=48228854 👉 Subscribe to this channel. 🔔 Turn on the ringtone to be the first to hear new stories. 👍 Rate videos with likes and comments - this will help me improve this channel. 📢 If you have stories you would like me to tell or narrate, be sure to share them in the comments.
