📰 UPDATE: Ugandan MPs Lobby Ghana to Host Anti-LGBTQ Conference During Tuesday’s parliamentary sitting (Oct 28, 2025), Speaker Alban Bagbin revealed that a delegation of Ugandan MPs — Hon. Helen Nakimuli, Hon. Kalule Flavia Nabagabe, Hon. Kawalya Abubaker, Hon. Luyimbazi Elias Nalukoola, and Hon. John Paul Mpalanyi — visited Ghana’s Parliament to lobby for the next Interparliamentary Conference on Family Values and Sovereignty to be hosted in Ghana. The Speaker, Alban Bagbin, urged Ghanaian MPs to learn from Uganda’s experience with its Anti-Homosexuality Act, saying they could “emulate their good examples.” If successful, it would be the first time the anti-LGBTQ conference comes to West Africa — a move rights defenders say would spread hate and criminalization across the region. Critics have called out the hypocrisy of Ghana’s leadership for seeking to emulate Uganda only on persecuting minorities, while ignoring Uganda’s failures in democracy, peace, human rights, press freedom, and development. ✍🏾 @RightifyGhana | www.rightifyghana.org
