The ‪@FlyByWireSim‬ team walks through the benefits of an Open Source (and free) approach to developing and releasing aircraft, based on their experiences. Developing high fidelity aircraft add-ons for flight simulators has traditionally happened in a closed way. In recent years, more and more add-ons have been released that are developed through a collaborative and open source process. This allows a broader audience to participate, share and learn from each other’s experiences, build a bigger community interest and get more people involved in the flight simulation community.
