Happy World Teachers’ Day! Our education team is working hard to present in-person school programs to classes that can visit and also bring the museum to the classroom through virtual field trips and outreach programs. Now more than ever, we thank teachers for all that they do and we are incredibly thankful for those that have signed up so far for our school programs this year. One of the special components of our Gold Rush school program is that students learn about how the news of gold in California was spread across the continent through newspapers. What better way for the students to learn about the printing process of the mid-1800s than to see a live demonstration in our print shop exhibit! In this video, Howard prints a wanted poster, one of the mementos a teacher gets for signing up for our Gold Rush Program. This program is offered in-person and as a virtual field trip.
