Utila Scuba Trip 2025 Dates: June 17–25, 2025 Location: Roatán & Utila, Honduras This year’s return trip to Utila was our biggest adventure yet, with a group of 12 family and friends. Following a similar itinerary as last year, our group included 4 completing their Advanced Open Water certification, 1 doing all fun dives, and 7 earning their Open Water certifications. While on Roatan we spent a morning ziplining through the jungles and interacting with monkeys, sloths and Macaws. Due to the Utila Dream ferry breaking down, we had to spend an extra night in Roatán at the start of the trip. Once on Utila, we were back at Alton’s Dive Center, enjoying breakfast and lunch daily at the Tipsy Turtle. For dinner, we explored local island favorites like RJ’s, The Point, Mario’s, Che Pancho, The Captain, Edo’s, and more. Tammi, our instructor from last year, led the Advanced course, while Kayla did an outstanding job teaching the Open Water students. After certifications, we had the chance to dive with Ryan and Steve—two phenomenal guides. Some highlights included encounters with incredible marine life: dolphins, eagle rays, stingrays, seahorses, and the rarest sight of all—several in our group saw a hammerhead shark. One of the most memorable days of the trip was when we took ATVs to explore the island above the water. We hiked up Pumpkin Hill for breath taking views of the island and ocean, visited the Iguana Research Center to see and learn about the endangered Utila spiny-tailed iguanas, and explored the island’s freshwater caves. This trip was filled with great diving, unforgettable memories, and an amazing crew. We want to extend a huge thank you to Alton’s for another incredible stay! Everyone made us feel welcome and supported every step of the way. A special shoutout to Steve and the rest of the management team for going above and beyond to make this trip smooth, fun, and unforgettable. We can’t wait to come back again!
