Akosua Valyria Nyree Arnold (Afriyie), born Valyria Nyree Williams, and formerly Valyria Lewis; visited the Kumasi region's Asante Village of Heman, at the urging of his Chieftancy, Hemanhene Nana Apau Wiafe Ababio Sanwoansan for a spiritual cleansing and naming ceremony. She was given a new name by the Hemanhene "Akosua Afriyie" and a new family, the Oyokoo Family of Heman. The ceremony was held at the site of the new museum and historical grounds, being erected in the Heman village. Akosua encourages all descendants of the diaspora to return to their roots, to have this deeply rich spiritual experience of reconnecting with their ancestors, grounding in African Asante/Ashanti culture. Akosua is a trade labor union activist and singer in the U.S. known by her stage name "Ms Vee" You can learn more about Akosua by visiting: https://MsVeeSings.com Follow on Instagram: / msveesings @MsVeeSings Follow on Facebook: / msveesings Video of Akosua in the Asantehene's procession, Memphis Tennessee https://www.instagram.com/reel/CdZxPf...
