WORLD FAMOUS Schindler Port Traction High Rise elevators @ The New York Marriott Marquis NYC

Well, we are back after 4 years at the Marriott Marquis in NYC. I filmed these things awhile back, original take in 2014, never will upload this take, and a LOT has changed elevator and hotel wise since I last came here. The system is now completely revamped and the PORT mod has been completed. I'm assuming the Port mod came along with the hotel renovations this mod happened while the hotel was being renovated. I do and don't miss the Miconic 10s in some ways. The system really needed this upgrade. The old system kept having trouble and getting stuck, didn't know what it was doing, and kept acting weird in many scenarios. For example: It would call cars out of random whenever a call was placed on any keypad. This ultimately slowed down the entire system, and complaints were made. Another thing is handicapped mode. The last few years before they were modernized, they developed this habit of calling cars K and L and not using the allocated system that they were originally designed to do. The Port update straightened all of this out, and now they are performing amazing and much better than I have ever seen it. However, the mod did bring some sad faces to the community. First of all, when you use handicapped, it doesn't chime like the way it used to. A lot of filmers miss that chime, but my reasoning to believe the reason they didn't keep it was because of how loud it was on the guest floors, and having the potential to wake up guests whenever it is used. One thing is I think the handicapped mode should work group by group instead of floor by floor. Another thing that is annoying is now as of June 2021 or earlier, the hotel key carded off the guest room floors. So, it is now hard if you want to film these nonstop. You can still access the view elevators between 5 PM ands 11 PM, but sometimes, not often, they get very busy. This wasn't an issue for me as I was staying here, but if you aren't, it is hard to film these elevators. My best recommendation is to try 43 upon walking in before trying other methods to get up. The best idea is to talk to the front desk, and try to have someone swipe you through to ride from the desk. I don't know how successful this would be but it is worth a shot. Or, better yet, if you can find a good rate here like we did, just stay here to avoid having to do all of this. This isn't the worst keycard system because you only need a key when you're coming up from the lobby and meeting room floors. Once you're on the guestroom floors, you can go anywhere without a key. So that's nice. Putting this into simple words, these things are still amazing and fun to ride, but they can be a pain now to ride thanks to the keycard scanners. This is the final NYC video.
