Day 62 of reading the Bible in 365 days and sharing my SOAP journaling along the way. Today’s reflection is on Mark 11:15-17, where Jesus enters the temple, overturns the tables of the money changers, and declares, “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations, but you have made it a den of robbers.” His actions reveal both His authority and His zeal for pure worship. What was meant to be a place of prayer and access to God had become a place of exploitation and distraction. In saying this, Jesus directly references Isaiah 56:7 and Jeremiah 7:11. Isaiah reveals God’s heart for His house to welcome all nations in prayer, while Jeremiah rebukes the people for turning it into a refuge for injustice. Jesus brings both themes together, confronting corruption and restoring the vision of sincere worship. These verses remind us that God desires purity, justice, and space for all to draw near. True worship is not performance or profit, but prayerful surrender before a holy and righteous King in Spirit and truth.
