So everyone tells you that doing cardio before lifting is a bad idea,but is that actually true? A new 2025 study helps answer the question. Researchers had 45 men train with both weights and cardio, but in different orders. One group did cardio first, followed by weights. The other lifted first, then did cardio after. At the end of 12 weeks, the results were pretty interesting. The group that did cardio first saw significant gains in strength, lean body mass, and VO2 max. But the group that did weights first? They saw the same increase in VO2 max, but gained more lean body mass, 45% more maximum strength, 64% more explosive power, and 57% more muscle endurance compared to the cardio-first group. Why? Because cardio creates central fatigue, which then negatively impacts weight training performance. However, doing weights first doesn't affect cardio in the same way. And this isn’t a one-off result — multiple studies show the same pattern. So if your goal is to maximize muscle growth and strength gains, save the cardio until after your workout, or just do it at a different time altogether. #fitness #gym #workout #buildmuscle #bodybuilding
