XMG Apex 15 Laptop Early Review (Ryzen 3700X, RTX 2070 Refresh)

Hi folks! XMG Apex 15 - Shop Website: https://bit.ly/2EkRJ85  I got my XMG Apex 15 notebook a week ago and want to share my impressions with you in this little review. Feel free to ask anything you want to know. In this case there could be a follow up video regarding those questions. Check out der8auer's prototype preview with sub-zero benchmarks    • INSANE: 16 Core AMD Desktop CPU in a ...   Content 0:00 | introduction 0:46 | cpu options 1:12 | design changes since preview samples? 1:29 | under the hood: heatpipes 2:32 | under the hood: ssd slots 3:54 | under the hood: memory 5:02 | BIOS, no tuning options? 6:03 | Benchmark: Cinebench R20 and R15 7:11 | GPU: NVidia RTX Refresh ? 8:06 | Benchmark: Time Spy 8:30 | Benchmark: Fire Strike 8:46 | Benchmark: SOTTR & RAM speed behaviour 10:03 | Temperatures while gaming 10:24 | fan noise 11:04 | fan control 12:02 | bad temperature readings 13:32 | power modes 13:49 | power mode investigation - good power for way less heat 18:02 | future of AM4 & new BIOS versions? Unfortunately I am a donkey sometimes and I made a little mistake. The performance shown in SOTTR in the "entertainment" power mode is not 5% lower compared to the performance mode. It is nearly equal. I accidently used SMAAT2x Antialiasing for the last test instead of TAA as before. Good news, eh? No effect on SOTTR, but maybe on some high FPS competetive games. Maybe I will run some more tests. ----- I got my hands on some quite fast 1.2V rated 3200MHz RAM by G.Skill. I had to fidle around a lot, at the end my TRFC was to aggressive. Stuck with the following values now. Not optimized yet. G.Skill F43200C18S-16GRS, in 2x16GB configuration, stable at 3200Cl18 using the following timings: Tcas 18, Trp 19, Trrc 18 Twrc 18, Trc 62, Tras 43, tcas write 18, trfc 600, trfc2 446, trfc4 274, tfaw 36, trrds 6, trrdl 8, twr 24, twtrs 4, twtrl 12, tcke 7, trtp 10, trdrdsc 1 trdrdscl 5, trdrdsd 5, trcpage 0, trdrddd 5, twrwrsc 1, twrwrscl 5, twrwrsd 7, twrwrdd 7, trdwr 9, twrrd 3 CmdRate 1T, GearDownEn Enabled, procODT 60 RttNom off, Rttwr RZQ/3, Rttpark RZQ/1 CAD 24,20,20,24 1.2V DRAM Voltage A bit more optimized timings (your mileage may vary; silicon lottery) Tcas 16, Trp 18, Trrc 18 Twrc 16, Trc 54, Tras 36, tcas write 16, trfc 552, trfc2 410, trfc4 252, tfaw 20, trrds 4, trrdl 5, twr 12, twtrs 4, twtrl 12, tcke 7, trtp 8, trdrdsc 1 trdrdscl 5, trdrdsd 5, trcpage 0, trdrddd 5, twrwrsc 1, twrwrscl 5, twrwrsd 7, twrwrdd 7, trdwr 7, twrrd 3 CmdRate 1T, GearDownEn Disabled, procODT 48 RttNom off, Rttwr RZQ/3, Rttpark RZQ/1 CAD 24,20,20,24 1.2V DRAM Voltage VSOC 1.0V, VDDP 0.88V, VDDG 0.953V Unfortunately these modules are coming with 2400MHz (1200Mclk) SPD speed, which is slow. When you order them you HAVE TO overclock them via Ryzen Master to get the advertized results. Ryzen Master seem to apply the memory overclock in BIOS. So that is fine though.
