This is Babur, the Tiger of Central Asia. Zahīr ud-Dīn Muhammad, better known as Babur, was a descendant of Timur and Genghis Khan. Ruling from Fergana, he captured Samarkand at 15, but lost both after his army deserted him. After failed recaptures and exile, he seized Kabul in 1504, rebuilding his kingdom and army. With the Safavids, he briefly recaptured Samarkand but lost it again and turned to India. Utilizing matchlocks and cannons, Babur won the Battle of Panipat in 1526, ending the Delhi Sultanate and founding the Mughal Empire. In 1527, he achieved his greatest victory at the Battle of Khanwa, defeating the Rajput ruler and moving his capital to Agra. Babur was also a patron of the arts and a poet.
