The Su Yan-Wen(史豔文) series is a very famous Potehi (布袋戲, puppet theater /puppet anime) series in Taiwan. Almost every Taiwanese knows its protagonist Su Yan-Wen and his nemesis, the Mirror Man (藏鏡人,pronounced as "Tsong Kiap Jin" in Taiwanese, means "The Man Who Hides In The Mirror"). Mirror Man is a general of the Miao's Land (苗疆.The Chinese character 苗 is pronounced as Biau in Taiwanese) which wars with the Midland (中原.In the series, it loosely refers to the Ming Dynasty) and Su Yan-Wen is the hero who leads people in the Midland to fight with the Maio. The Miao people see Mirror Man as their "God of War" and they always call him his real name, Lor Bik (羅碧). But people in the Midland see him as "The Wickest Sinner"(萬惡罪魁), because he killed lots of people among them. In the other hand, Su Yan-Wen is the hero in the Midland, but is called Su-The-Dog(史狗子) by the Miao people. Mirror Man always wants to kill Su Yan-Wen. Not only because he servers the enemy state, but also because Su Yan-Wan's father, Gernal Su Phong-Tsiu(史豐州) of the Ming Dynasty, killed Mirror Man's father, Gernal Lor Tian-Ziong(羅天從) of Jiaozhi(交趾,the ancient name of Vietnam. But in the series, it seems also refers to the Miao's Land. Cause both Lor Tian-Ziong and Lor Bik served or severs the the Miao's Land ). As Su Phong-Tsiu is believed to be dead many years ago, Mirror Man is seeking for revenge on Su Yan-Wan instead. In "The Final Conflict of Su Yanwen", it revealed that Mirror Man is in fact the long-lost twin brother of Su. He has been taken by Lor Tian-Ziong when he was an infant, and raised up by the people of Jiaozhi.Like other people in Jiaozhi, Mirror Man believed he is Lor Tian-Ziong's son. Until one day he saw Su Yan-Wan's face and found out the truth. Instead of reuniting with his true family, Mirror Man decided to mask his face and serve Jiaozhi to repay that its people reaised him up. The West Katana-Ryu (西劍流) is a ninja organization from Tong Ying(東瀛, loosely refers to Japan) wants to subdue both the Midland and the Miao's Land. They kidnapped Mirror Man's long-lost daughter as a hostage, forced him to battle with Su Yan-Wen and promise them to show his face when they ask. (Mirror Man's wife, Iaau Ming-Gueh 姚明月, is incompatible with her husband. She has sold out his secret to the West Katana-Ryu. She also framed her husband up, convinced the Miao's King to believe that Mirror Man betrayed his country and conspired with Su Yan-Wen. Although they are twins, what she accused is impossible. Because Mirror Man hates Su Yan-Wen, and Su doesn't even know that Mirror Man is his brother.) P.S The name 史豔文 is pronounced as "Su Iam-Bun" in Taiwanese. But the official title uses the spelling in Mandarin pronunciation "Su Yan-Wen". So I use this spelling too. P.P.S. I found I previously spelt both Lor Bik's and Iaau Ming-Gueh's family names wrong. The surname 羅 should be spelt as "Lor" , instead of "Lo."
