In this video Dr. Aniketh Venkataram, renowned plastic surgeon from The Venkat Center, in Bengaluru speaks to a patient to ask her views about the breast reduction surgery a few years ago at our center. She starts by saying she feels good when Dr. Aniketh asks about how she was doing. The patient then starts to narrate her situation. She used to have heavy breasts since her puberty, but she could not take the decision of getting them reduced. So when she was 52, she came across Dr. Aniketh's clinic and decided to undergo the breast reduction surgery, and post this surgery, she is much more relieved and her life has changed. She also speaks about how a lot of pain in her shoulders has reduced, and overall her confidence has increased as well as a positive shift in her personality. The surgery has helped her a lot, and she now feels that she could have taken up this operation many years ago, but it did take some time. The patient would suggest this surgery to anybody who needs it or to those women who have heavy breasts. She feels that they should go ahead and plan the surgery as early as possible and not wait or delay the decision, which could cause trouble in their lives. She emphasises the fact about the excellent job done by Dr. Aniketh and that she is very thankful to him. Next, she speaks of the whole team in the hospital, who were was very caring and very helpful. She shifts her focus back to Dr. Aniketh, who was just a call away throughout the post-operative recovery stages, and any issues she had in her mind, he would resolve it immediately, without any hesitation. Once again, she says, “Big thank you to Dr. Aniketh and the team, and thank you.” Dr. Aniketh continues with his next question about the surgery and whether it was very painful or uncomfortable. The patient replies that there was not that much pain or discomfort as she had imagined. She continues and mentions that in the post-operative stages, it took her some time to recover, and maybe it was owed to her age. But she feels that the recovery was very good. Dr. Aniketh asks an important question about how women often past year 50 think why do they need breast reduction surgery at an older age, and also think about how this is not the right age to undertake surgery. The patient responds by saying that she does not think that should be a thing, since if at any age if a woman feels, even at 50 also, it is a good age to get the surgery done. This is because an average person will have about 30 years of life even after 50, so women may as well lead a good life. Dr. Aniketh adds to the patient’s intention by saying, “It's never too late to have a better life.” To which she responds, “Yeah, earlier it’s done, it's better. But even 50-52 is a good age, I feel.” The doctor concludes the review by thanking the patient for her time.
