This video's going up a few days earlier than normal, cos I didn't want it to look like an April Fool joke, which it very much isn't. I wish. Well, this is disappointing. I'd always intended to make a video about my experience of publishing my first book, Playing To Lose, with Unbound, but I hadn't envisaged it being like this. I'd hoped I'd be able to recommend them to everyone. Sadly for me (and for a host of other authors & freelancers) Unbound has gone into administration and appears to be in the process of relaunching itself as Boundless, with the same people in charge. Given that they currently owe a number of people (including me) money that we've earned but which they have kept/used (for what? We do not know) this feels shoddy, shifty, and generally dishonorable. So I made a video, because I don't want future hopeful authors to sign a contract with Boundless, if it's being run by the same people who currently owe so many of us the money we worked extremely hard for. So this video will stay up until everyone is paid what they're owed, at which point I'll put out a new video to update you. To support my book, you can purchase the audio version on Amazon, and the money comes directly to me. And I'll shortly be able to sell ebooks and paper copies of it too. Here's a link! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Playing-Lose... Disclaimer: I'm not an expert on how going into administration works so I might not have got the details entirely correct. Because none of my companies have ever done it. I've never left an invoice unpaid, and have never spent money that I was holding for a co-performer or crew member before a scheduled shoot. Because that would be a) dishonest and b) a catastrophic choice, from a business perspective. As always, you can reach me on [email protected] or I'm on Twitter/X @ArielAnderssen If you're an author who needs help, by all means reach out to me and I'll do what I can to assist you.
