Robert Forster performed his ’40 Songs Over 2 Nights’ shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, as an opportunity to delve deep into his musical career and play some of his personal favourites. The shows were a real treat for his fans. The songs in this video were recorded on his second night in Sydney. I could have recorded any number of the 21 songs (every night finished with his usual “Surfing Magazines”) but limited myself to what I think is an interesting mixture of Go-Betweens and solo works: Was There Anything I Could Do? (00:04) Part Company (03:00) I'll Jump (07:40) I’ve Been Looking For Somebody (10:39) Dive for Your Memory (15:16) One Bird in the Sky (19:04) Draining the Pool for You (22:04) Adele Pickvance wandered on and off stage throughout the night, providing a little more depth with her bass and backing vocals. The two seemed to thoroughly enjoy their musical walk down memory lane together. The audience of course, loved every moment. And for me, it was wonderful being at a venue where sound levels and lighting were perfect for videoing. A great night.
