Minimum Wage – Industrial Workers employed in Mines* For work above ground - Highly Skilled For work above ground - Semi-skilled/Unskilled Supervisory For work above ground - Skilled/Clerical For work above ground - Unskilled For work below ground - Highly Skilled For work below ground - Semi-skilled/Unskilled Supervisory For work below ground - Skilled/Clerical For work below ground - Unskilled DEFINITIONS Definition of Unskilled, Semi-skilled, Skilled & Highly Skilled Workers. (i) Unskilled: An unskilled employee is one who does operations that involve the performance of simple duties, which require the experience of little of no independent judgment or previous experience although familiarity with the occupational environment is necessary. His work may thus require in addition to physical exertion familiarity with variety of articles or goods. (ii) Semi-skilled: A semiskilled worker is one who does work generally of defined routine nature wherein the major requirement is not so much of the judgment, skill and but for proper discharge of duties assigned to him or relatively narrow job and where important decisions made by others. His work is thus limited to the performance of routine operations of limited scope. (iii) Skilled: A skilled employee is one who is capable of working efficiently of exercising considerable independent judgement and of discharging his duties with responsibility. He must posses a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the trade, craft or industry in which he is employed. (iv) Highly Skilled: A highly skilled worker is one who is capable of working efficiently and supervises efficiently the work of skilled employees. Industrial Worker (employees employed in loading and unloading in 1) goods sheda, parcel offices of railways; 2) other goodssheds, godowns, warehouses; 3) docks and ports. 3. Industrial Workers employed in Gypsum Mines, Barytes Mines, Mauxite Mines, Manganese Mines, China Clay Mines, Kyanite Mines, Copper Mines, Clay Mines, Magnesite Mines, White Clay Mines, Stone Mines, Steatite Mines, Ochre Mines, Asbestos Mines, Fire Clay Mines, Chromite Mines, Quartzite Mines, Quartz Mines, Silica Mines, Graphite Mines, Felspar Mines, Laterite Mines, Dolomite Mines, Red Oxide Mines, Wolfram Mines, Iron Ore Mines, Granite Mines, Rock Phosphate Mines, Hematite Mines, Marble and Calcite Mines, Uranium Mines, Mica Mines, Lignite Mines, Gravel Mines, Slate Mines, Magnetite Mines. 7. Construction or maintenance of roads or runways in buliding operations including laying down underground electric,wireless, radio, television, telephone, telegraph and overseas communication cables and similar other underground cabling work, electric lines, water supply lines and sewerage pipe lines. Wages per month are calculated as 4.33 times if a weekly wage is defined. It is calculated as 4.33 times the standard hours per week if an hourly wage is given.
