The real danger of vape waste and e-cigarettes - and how to avoid it!

Vapes are growing in popularity, but they’re SO dangerous when not disposed of correctly. So in our latest video, we explain what those dangers are, how to avoid them, and how vapes and e-cigarettes really should be disposed of. Transcript: (Nathan) Guess who’s back again? It’s us, your electrical waste recycling specialists… The WEEE Guys! (Andy) Recently we’ve had a lot of questions about the growing problem of e-cigarettes and vapes (Chris) We thought we’d show you how and where you can recycle these items. They really are a hazard to the environment. (Nathan) Did you know, 1.3 million vapes are thrown away every week? (Jack) For goodness vape! (Chris) Jack, that equates to about 67 million of them thrown away every year! (Jack) That’s shocking! That’s enough to make batteries for 1200 electric vehicles (Andy) That’s right Jack, and when not disposed of correctly, they can actually cause fires because of the batteries contained within them (Jack) So how should I dispose of these? (Nathan) Disposable vapes are actually classed as hazardous electrical waste once they’ve been used and should be disposed of in the correct manner by either taking them to a household waste recovery centre or popping them in a vape collection bin (Chris) And any retailer that sells vapes should have a dedicated box for this type of WEEE (Andy) If they haven’t got a dedicated vape bin, they still need to take that electrical item. So now go on and tell them to contact us! (Nathan) It’s really easy and will reduce the risk of fires and pollution to the environment (Jack) Sounds straightforward.
