Climbing Duncan Benchmark - Dolan Springs, AZ

Duncan Benchmark is the highpoint of the Music Mountains and the Grand Wash Cliffs, and is one of the Arizona 2000 ft. prominence peaks. The standard route approaches the peak from the north, but we elected to take the route that comes in from the south. As it turned out, you can probably make it pretty close to where we parked with 2WD. The hike takes you up a south ridge to the rim, and then northwest to the peak, gradually gaining elevation. There is a decent amount of vegetation to contend with, but also several areas where it is more sparse, and overall it slowed us down, but not excessively. The views from the summit are blocked by trees in some places, but if you maneuver around you can get some awesome views.
