His Life was not just changed, but SAVED by moving to the Philippines In this episode of The Goldfinger Minute, we sit down with Randall, an inspiring expat whose story blends resilience, reinvention, and hope. Originally from Dallas, Texas (USA), Randall will be turning 64 this October 2025. His journey to the Philippines began after decades of hard work and life-changing health challenges, and today he calls Dumaguete his home. Randall spent more than 22 years as an Internet technician, but his career started with all sorts of odd jobs. Like many hardworking Americans, he built a life piece by piece, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything. As the 2020s began, Randall developed serious heart issues and struggled with concentration, eventually deciding to retire on a pension and seek a simpler, healthier life abroad. In 2022, he moved to the Philippines to save money and regain his health. While living here, Randall’s marriage in the U.S. ended. He and his wife had no biological children but shared responsibility for five stepchildren. In 2024, his wife filed for divorce due to abandonment, and he has been unmarried ever since. Like many expats, Randall went through a period of dating and adjusting to a new culture. He dated four to five different women before finally finding a lasting connection. For the past two and a half years he has been with Maricel, a caring province woman. Although they have no children together, Randall is helping raise a 4-year-old boy from his wife's family, a child he deeply loves as his own. Despite the challenges, Randall is focused on his health and self-improvement. He works out regularly at a local gym and is currently using Retatrutide to lose weight. After just one week, he has already lost four pounds and openly shares his experience with the medication—its benefits, his goals, and its side effects. Randall’s story also touches on his lifelong health struggles. He was born premature and with cerebral palsy, conditions that shaped his resilience. Later in life, he suffered from kidney stones so severe they nearly lost his life during surgery in the U.S. In a remarkable twist, Randall discovered a natural remedy in the Philippines— Sambong tablets—which he credits with eliminating his kidney stones and saving his life. This plant, still not widely recognized in the U.S., has become a symbol of the healing opportunities he’s found in his adopted country. Through his candid conversation, Randall offers insights on starting over in the Philippines, adjusting after retirement, navigating relationships, and taking control of one’s health in a foreign land. Whether you’re curious about expat life, natural health alternatives, or simply love inspiring real-life stories, this episode will leave you motivated and informed. Watch now to hear Randall’s unfiltered journey—from Dallas to Dumaguete, from health crises to healing, from loss to a new chapter of purpose and love. 👉 Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe if you enjoy stories like this—your support helps us share more expat journeys and real conversations! 📍About the Podcast: The Goldfinger Minute Podcast isn’t just about stories—it’s about real people and real connections.
