Zagora, flanked on two sides by mountains, is a small town located in the Draa River valley of Souss-Massa Draa in the south-east of Morocco. Family-owned gardens filled with date palms stretch out for miles between the city and the river. The Draa River, Morocco’s longest river, passes through Zagora, though it’s not always full of water. In Zagora you find the famous sign ""Timbouctou 52 days"". Tagounite is the second last village on the road into the Sahara. It is a melting pot for the different cultures of the area, inlcunding Berber, Drawi, Saharaui and Gnawi. In the tiny villages in between Tagounite and the Draa river one can explore the rich and diverse history, culture, vegetation and architecture of this oasis area.
