ރަންކަމަނާ Rankamana I was #improvising on the keys. (this piano is very broken). We can pretend that one hand is #fahthey and the other hand is Muhtar. I did not sing the #Dhivehi words but the imagery in the song is so good that one could almost feel the salty warm tropical island air. It describes the daily island life of the woman that the guy was “observing” or rather creeping on. Few decades ago women would fetch water from the well at the mosque. Water vessels #bandiya would be carried on the head. Apparently 88 was made when walking with it. You’d sweep the island sand with #iloshifathi, a handheld #maldivan sweep made by gathering a bunch of ribs of coconut palm leaves. Eat #majaa and go for swims in the ocean. Feed the island chicken, wash the pans (at the beach I guess)...all of this is described in the bits I remember of the song. No one lived in #Maldives in the 1990s without hearing this Dhivehi song. I mainly remember Fahthey’s moves. Iconic 👏.
