2024 was the busiest year ever for Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC). We were called to 2,272 of the most serious 999 calls across Bristol, Bath and beyond. This is an average of over six per day, an increase of around 15% compared to 2023 (we were called to 1,979 incidents in 2023). GWAAC needs over £4 million each year to run our service. As a charity we are not funded by the NHS and rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters. People like you. We are one of the busiest air ambulance charities in the UK working 365 days a year to provide critical care and pre-hospital emergency medicine to 2.1 million people across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and parts of Wiltshire. You might recognise our bright green and blue helicopter, but we also have a fleet of critical care cars that operate when and where the helicopter is unable to fly.
