Why do we feel restless even when we are connected to everyone? In this talk, we explore the modern condition of spiritual disconnection through the haunting vision of T. S. Eliot in The Waste Land and the profound wisdom of the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad. Eliot captured the fragmentation of the modern psyche — noise without meaning, speed without direction, connection without communion. But he did not stop at despair. In the closing movement of The Waste Land, he invokes the ancient Upanishadic teaching of the “Three Da” — Datta (Give), Dayadhvam (Compassion), Damyata (Self-restraint) — suggesting that the cure for modern emptiness lies in inner discipline and awakened awareness. We reflect on: • Why constant stimulation leads to inner drought • The psychology of digital exhaustion • The deeper meaning of “Da” in the Upanishads • How awareness can restore coherence to our fragmented lives • What the Bhagavad Gita adds to this conversation about crisis and consciousness This is not just literary analysis. It is an invitation to pause. To listen. To return to the still centre within. If this resonates, share your reflections in the comments. Let’s build a thoughtful dialogue between literature, philosophy, psychology, and leadership. #SpiritualDisconnection #TheWasteLand #TSEliot #Upanishads #BrihadaranyakaUpanishad #BhagavadGita #ConsciousnessStudies #DigitalRestlessness #InnerClarity #ModernCrisis #PhilosophyOfLife #LeadershipAndConsciousness #IndianPhilosophy #LiteratureAndLife
