KILL THE OLD ROCKERS! KILL THE WORMS! There’s no future in rock 'n' roll. With the passage of time we see what it has become and make us want to vomit: old glories that lost their essence long time ago but they never left; others who come back to drag their old asses one more time; tribute bands everywhere… and in the middle of this cult to the past young people are begging to play live! In the big gigs posters there is a small print which says: “If you are 20 years old, there's no room for you here”. The new bands are small multifunctional entities that have to take on the role of band, label, booking, promotion, merchandising, producer, and I don't know how many more things, to end up seeing how the outdated artists are still up there due to the name of their brand and other intricacies that have nothing to do with the essence of rock 'n' roll. Do the current Metallica, Misfits, Discharge, Guns N Roses, Exploited, or Slayer represent anything like that? Or our nearest case, La Polla Records, that seem to be the next to join this geriatric parade. To us, they are only just rancid trying to emulate a past of rebellion that lost long time ago. Those rock dictators are still there after 40 years entrenched on their comfortable armchair, and we would like to remind our sleeping generation that the dictators must be smashed with the guns in hand. Don't kill imagination! If the past was better, it's because now we insist on not living in the present. In the eighties, people didn't say “the 60s were better”. NO! They said: “Let's do better than them”. That's attitude! That's Rock n Roll! The current world tells us that we should wait until we are 40 years old to say what we want, but we don't want to wait. We are 20 years old and we have something to shout NOW! IT'S TIME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, TO DECLARE WAR ON THE OLD GUARD. IT'S TIME TO KILL THE WORMS! KILL THE OLD ROCKERS! KILL THE WORMS! ((SPANISH)) No hay futuro en el rock ‘n’ roll. Vemos en lo que se ha convertido con el paso del tiempo y nos dan ganas de vomitar: legiones de viejas glorias que hace tiempo perdieron su esencia pero nunca se fueron; otras que vuelven a arrastrar sus viejos traseros una vez más; tributos y más tributos… y en medio de este revival del pasado los jóvenes están ¡mendigando por tocar! En los carteles de los grandes eventos hay una letra pequeña que dice: “Si tienes 20 años no hay sitio para ti”. Las nuevas bandas son pequeños todoterrenos que tienen que hacer funciones de banda, discográfica, booking, promoción, edición de merchandising, productores y no sé cuantas cosas más para acabar viendo desde la barrera como los desfasados de siempre se mantienen ahí por el nombre y otros entresijos que poco o nada tienen que ver con la esencia primaria del rock ‘n’ roll. ¿Acaso representan algo de eso los actuales Metallica, Misfits, Discharge, Guns N Roses, Exploited, Slayer…? O en nuestro caso más cercano La Polla Records, que parece que serán los próximos en sumarse a este desfile propio de un geriátrico. A nosotros solo nos parecen unos rancios tratando de emular un pasado de rebeldía que hace tiempo perdieron. Esos dictadores del rock siguen ahí después de 40 años afianzados en su cómoda poltrona, y nos gustaría recordar a nuestra dormida generación que a los dictadores se los derrota con las armas en la mano. Dejad de matar la imaginación. Si el pasado fue mejor es porque ahora nos empeñamos en no vivir el presente. La gente de los mitificados 80 no decía “que buenos tiempos los 60”. NO! Dijeron “vamos a hacer algo mejor que esa panda de viejos desfasados”. ¡Eso es actitud! ¡Eso es Rock n roll! El mundo actual nos dice que debemos esperar a tener 40 años para decir lo que queremos, pero no nos da la gana de esperar. Tenemos 20 años y tenemos que gritar algo AHORA! ¡ES HORA DE HACER ALGO AL RESPECTO, DE DECLARAR LA GUERRA A LA VIEJA GUARDIA! ¡ES HORA DE MATAR A LOS GUSANOS! W.A.B.
