The dorsal or tegmental part of the pons is a critical region of the brainstem, serving as a communication hub for many vital functions. When observing a cross-section of this area, you can see a fascinating interplay of structures that coordinate motor control, sensory processing, and autonomic functions. At the center, we encounter the tegmentum, which houses vital neural pathways, including the ascending sensory tracts that relay information from the body to the brain.
