The DX900 Series is Panasonic’s top 4K Ultra HD HDR TV. It’s Ultra HD Premium and 4K THX certified and features some really clever technology. In this video I share my thoughts about this 65-inch TV, the TX-65DX902 UK version, tell you what I like and what I don’t, and ask if this is an early contender for TV of the year? And as this is a top of the range HDR (High Dynamic Range) UHD TV, I also share a conversation I had with cinematographer Vanja Cernjul, who is responsible for shooting Marco Polo, the first Netflix TV show in HDR. I met Vanja at the European launch of the DX902… The Panasonic DX902 TV reviewed... The Panasonic DX900 / DX902 is a 4K HDR LED LCD TV certified Ultra HD Premium by the UHD Alliance, a trade body comprised of TV makers and content suppliers. 0.40: Build quality is excellent. Panasonic has employed an Italian design house to style the set and it shows. From the star engraving on the feet, to the textured finish on the edge of the frame. There’s loads of nice detailing. 1.24: Connectivity is good. There’s dual satellite inputs and a twin terrestrial tuner, There are also four HDMIs, one with ARC, all support HDCP 2.2. There are also three USBs, plus legacy connections, Ethernet and an SD card reader. Wi-Fi is dual band. 1.42: The set comes with two remote controls. One standard infra red and the other a Bluetooth touchpad. Obviously this is a pretty big model, and weighs some 34.5kg. The stereo sound system is rated at 40w and I found it decent enough for causal viewing. 2.10: Picture quality is fantastic. Images are really vibrant and contrasty, especially with material like The Lego Movie on 4K blu-ray. Topping a 1000nits, it is capable of incredibly bright peak highlights. It also does a great job upscaling HD sources. 2.30: There’s a variety of viewing modes. The TV was certified for UHD Premium on Professional 1, but other HDR viewing modes are True Cinema and Normal. Selecting any of these automatically sets the right EOTF and colour space. 2.47: The set features has a direct backlight, it’s not edge lit. LEDs are arranged in a grid behind the screen, in a honeycomb pattern of plastic cells designed to prevent light leakage. 3.04: For the most part though, this works well, but on some difficult scenes this stands out like a sore thumb. You might just be able to see it on the firework sequence. 3.28 The set uses the Firefox smart OS which is brilliantly simple. You start of with three pins, but you can add more. Apps takes you to catch-up players and streaming services. 3.57: Both 4K Netflix and 4K Amazon are supported. As you can see navigating the set itself is fast and responsive. Devices is a shortcut to everything connected both to the TV and across a network. The UK set has Freeview Play. All the main channel catch-up TV services are here and integrated on the programme guide, which makes the set easy to use. 4.35: Out of the box settings are really good . There are two THX modes, Cinema and bright room. Don’t use these with HDR sources, they’re optimized for Rec709 sources, like regular 1080p Blu-rays. 4.59: Overall, I think the DX902 is an amazing TV. The backlight is sometimes a challenge, but most of the time it looks incredible. Subscribe To My Channel And Never Miss A Review Or Unboxing http://www.youtube.com/subscription_c...
