Watch our May the 4th Be With You Fan Video:    • May the 4th Be with You 2018! | Star Wars ...   Lasers Now there is a scene where JJ and I are running through the forest and there are blaster bullets being shot at us. In this scene, we decided to use effects from the Filmora Blockbuster pack, which includes effects like lasers, explosions, and smoke. For this shot, we knew the effects were angled at a certain degree so we had to make sure, in order for the effects to look more realistic, we needed to shoot at a profile angle and from a high-up level. Now the easy thing about Filmora effects is it’s all drag and drop so with the laser beam effects we want, I can just drag and drop into the timeline and adjust the effects in the frame to look like the laser are being shot at us. Explosion & Debris In the video, there is an explosion that acts as a key event. To make the explosion, we used a variety of the explosion effects in the Blockbuster pack, I layered the 2-3 effects using separate PIP tracks and blended them together using the blend mode feature. To add to the explosion, I added smoke and particles then used the blend mode feature again to add texture to the scene. Although it’s subtle, using the blend mode feature helps emphasize the debris or fall out from the explosion and gives the video a more realistic look. Motion Tracking Hack Now I know you are all asking about having a motion tracking feature in Filmora, and right now the team is still looking at the best way to add this feature. In the meantime, there is a way you can edit your effects to have a slight motion tracking effect to your video. And I’m going to show you when JJ stabs me with the lightsaber. Go through the clip one frame at a time with your right arrow key, and make a cut at each frame. Then with the individual cuts, I'm going to adjust the laser so it aligns with my back. If you play it back, there is a slight motion tracking effect! Extra Tip: Drone Camera Trick Not all effects need to be created in a program. You can also use your equipment as props! For example, for the message that I need to deliver, I’m using a handheld recorder. I just covered it with some black tape. Now it looks like a communication device. Another trick is the drone! A lot of the shots we took for this video was using a Drone. In this scene, I’m hiding away from small fighter droid seeking me out. This was actually the drone in the background that did a bit of acting of it’s own. Utilizing your equipment for scenes will save you time and money from renting or creating props you need and gives off very cool realistic effects. I hope you all enjoyed this video!
