The Skull Chapel in Kudowa Czermna 18.09.2021. The object is a tomb of the victims of the Silesian wars of 1740-1742 and 1744-1745 and of infectious diseases from the 18th century. There are 3,000 bones and skulls on the walls and ceiling. But it doesn't stop there. Nearly 30,000 remains are also found under the floor of the chapel. The building was built in the second half of the 18th century. The chapel was built by priest Wacław Tomaszek. He spent eight years doing it. It took so long to collect, disinfect and prepare the bones and skulls for placing them on the walls. And although the chapel is associated as a place where shiver passes down your spine, the trip may turn out to be important for us, as it forces us to reflect on human existence. Every year, on the night of August 14-15, a mass is celebrated there for all those who have passed away as a result of an accident or illness.
