Cross-Country Amtrak Trip: Part 2 In part 2 of my three-part epic Amtrak journey across America, from Raleigh, NC to Los Angeles, CA, I am riding from Washington, DC to Chicago, IL overnight in a roomette on Train 40, The Floridian. I talk about briefly exploring Washington, DC, the DC Union Station Metropolitan Lounge, provide a roomette tour, see a quick stop in Harper’s Ferry, WV, and visit the dining car. I talk about tipping, changing clothes, sleeping, the sink and toilet in a roomette, showering on the train, the cost for this segment, and answer the questions of whether or not it was worth it and would I do it again. Finally, I arrive into Chicago’s Union Station and go exploring Chicago. I also share a video I created for a day trip from Chicago to St. Louis and back on Amtrak. In part 3, after getting a good night's sleep in Chicago, I'll head back to Union Station and visit the Metropolitan Lounge. Then, I'll board train 3, the Southwest Chief and spend 2 nights in a roomette on a double-decker Superliner train traveling across Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and California.
