Is Bracing After Hip Arthroscopy Necessary? Sophia Mavrommatis (she/her/hers) Hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery used to treat hip problems. Recently, hip arthroscopy has surged in popularity. From 2005 to 2010, there was a 600% rise in the procedure. Despite this, there is no consensus on the best protocols for patient rehabilitation after this surgery. We summarize the literature on bracing patients after hip arthroscopy. We found that surgeons have divided opinions on bracing patients after hip arthroscopy and that surgeon preference for brace type and settings vary. There was no research on the efficacy of bracing after surgery; this will be an important area for future research. SciPride celebrates the scientific contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community at the University of Minnesota.
