The Local Honeys (Montana Hobbs and Linda Jean Stokley) is a highly acclaimed musical duo from Kentucky that was formed a decade ago. Montana and Linda Jean are solidly anchored in and deeply respectful of the Appalachian culture and music they grew up in, but their innovative songwriting, storytelling and musicianship, while rooted in tradition, are not constrained by it, as their music is very much of its time, elegantly and powerfully capturing the beauty, struggles and complexities of contemporary Appalachian life. Folks in the know say these two women are poised to become not only the defining voices of their home state of Kentucky but the defining voices of a new Appalachia.
