Acrylic Markers & Alcohol Markers Explained (what is the difference?)

What is the difference between acrylic brush markers and alcohol brush markers (also referred to as permanent markers). The answer is in the kind of art you like to do. Let's go over each type of marker and what they are designed to do. Alcohol or Permanent Markers These are super for drawing, coloring, blending and shading. I use alcohol markers in my art journal daily and I love them. They blend well, they go on smoothly and you can create beautiful artwork with them. Alcohol markers have a transparency and blend together really well. You can create shading and blending within your work with adds depth. Acrylic Markers These are super for mixed media, adding details and layering. I use acrylic paint markers in my mixed media work and to add smaller details in my drawings. I love how acrylic brush markers layer over the permanent markers and create texture in my artwork. Acrylic art markers are opaque and can cover up marks or mistakes, I use them to add details over my alochol marker drawings. I love putting gold as an accent over my drawings. Do I have a preference? Which one is better? For me personally, both types of markers are my favorite because I use them both for different things and the combination of these markers layered within my artwork allows me to create depth and texture. I LOVE drawing with my sharpies, coloring with my alcohol markers and adding detail with my acrylic markers. There is nothing more enjoyable than using a variety of markers to see what works for you. Each type has certain elements that I love and so I use them for different techniques and to acheive different effects.
