[Anchor Lead] Parking is a serious problem in Korea these days. There are more cars on the road but seemingly less parking space, which often results in ugly fights among car owners. Here's how some neighborhoods have found a way to solve the parking problem by sharing parking spaces. [Pkg] A man approaches a parked car and begins to pound it mercilessly with a golf club. The man was outraged because of double parking. Some people even set double-parked cars on fire. Parking conflicts are especially severe in apartment buildings that were built before parking space requirements were modified as well as in densely populated residential areas. Lee Hyun-joo, a public servant who works at City Hall, parks her car in the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex. The residents of this apartment complex have agreed to provide empty parking spaces to visitors during the daytime. [Soundbite] Lee Hyun-joo(Official, Bucheon City Hall) : "Public servants can park their cars at the apartment complex, while residents can use the car park of City Hall. Both sides like it." In return, the residents can use the car park of City Hall when its work hours are over. [Soundbite] Shin Seok-hyun(Apartment Residents' Representative) : "We have a problem with double parking at nighttime. Our residents can park at City Hall when there is no more parking space. It's very convenient." Apartment complexes and public agencies in this area have found a mutually beneficial way to share parking spaces. More places will likely follow suit, as the government has introduced regulations allowing apartment complexes to provide their parking lots to visitors for a certain fee.
