Frank Milne was one of the most prolific and skilled song arrangers, initially for Aeolian (Duo-Art) and later during the 1930's for the merged Aeolian American Company, when his arrangements were issued in both Ampico and Duo-Art formats. Milne's arrangements were marketed using many pseudonyms including Noel Sherry, used on this roll. This medley was arranged by Milne in strict rhythm at dance tempo, and issued as Ampico #216473. The songs are: "Two Sleepy People," by Frank Loesser and Hoagie Carmichael, "My Reverie," adapted from Debussy by Larry Clinton and "April in My Heart" from the movie "Say it in French", written by Helen Meinard and Hoagie Carmichael. The piano is a newly-restored Foster and Co. upright Ampico A, built in 1925, that came to Historic Pianos in 2011 for restoration due to damage suffered years ago from a plumbing leak above the Texas owner's apartment. Large early uprights like this one can produce a rich sound volume and quality that rivals most parlor grands.
