China Military Parade 2025 : LIVE in Beijing of a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of Japan’s World War II surrender and featuring the People's Liberation Army's newest weaponry. President and head of the military Xi Jinping is expected to deliver a speech on the occasion, to be attended by foreign leaders. China's military is the world’s largest standing military with more than 2 million members and an increasingly sophisticated arsenal of missiles, aircraft carriers and fighter aircraft. China’s Sept. 3 military parade, held to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan, will be the fourth such event since President Xi Jinping came to power. Yet the context today is strikingly different. At home, the country faces economic headwinds, but its military strength continues to grow. Abroad, ties with the West—particularly the United States—are increasingly tense, while the postwar international order is being reshaped under the pressure of the Russia-Ukraine war. Leaders from countries united in their opposition to the west will gather in Beijing this week in a show of support for China’s president, Xi Jinping, at a second world war commemoration parade designed to show off China’s military strength and geopolitical might.
