The Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express was hit by lightning and a hailstorm on Sunday, May 21, 2023. The train was stranded at the Baitarani Road railway station for over two hours, but all passengers were safe. The train was eventually towed to Howrah station by a diesel engine. The Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express is a semi-high speed train that was launched in February 2023.
