The last and final loco hauled Sperry to run on the Howth Branch and the very first visit for Irish Rail's retro 071 class loco number 073 to Howth. Sadly all good things must come to an end, after catching every Howth Branch Sperry run for the last six years since 2013 I will miss seeing it out as it was the only regular loco hauled train on the Howth Branch, even if it only came out once a year. But sadly now that the Sperry is gone it's going to be nearly impossible to see loco haulage on this line. 0:00 - 0:43, Anyways to kick the night off we see Irish Rail's retro 071 class loco number 073 making it's very first run on the Howth Branch in it's retro livery seen here passing Sutton Station with a North Wall - Howth Sperry Train. 0:43 - 3:46, Next I headed to Howth where we see Retro 073 resting at Howth Station whilst waiting on the light engine to collect the Sperry. However in a very strange turn of events retro 073 would haul the return leg of the Sperry back to North Wall and 076 would be used to shunt the Sperry at Howth. 3:46 - 4:21, With shunting out of the way 071 class loco number 076 passes Claremount Road Crossing as it heads light engine back to Connolly. 4:21 - 4:55, And then the final movement of the Sperry Train over the Howth Branch, Retro 073 passes along Burrow Road with the Sperry Train for the last and final time. It is sad to see this great train fade away to the history book, I had the absolute pleasure of filming this on the Howth Branch since 2013. Please feel free to comment, like & subscribe.
