Today on our 2001 Toyota RAV4 we're going to be installing the CURT trailer hitch receiver, part number C13524. Now here's what our hitch looks like installed on the vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch, such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the top of the opening in the receiver to the ground we have 15". From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost edge of the spare tire carrier on this vehicle we have about 10". Now let's go ahead and install our hitch. Now before we begin let's go over the tools that we'll be using to install our hitch today. We'll be using a ratchet. If we have an impact gun it will make things a little easier. A long extension will help out as well. We'll be using a 17mm socket, a 19mm socket, and a torque wrench. Let's first begin by pointing our mounting locations on our vehicle. there will be a total of four mounting locations. We're going to go ahead and start over here on the driver side. Right here is a mounting location, and here's the other mounting location. Now over here on the passenger side the mounting location will be here, and here. Next we'll need to remove the tow hooks as well as the hardware securing them to the vehicle's frame. We'll do this for both the passenger and the driver side. Next let's point out the hardware that we'll be using. It will be the same at all four locations. We'll be using a 12mm bolt and a conical tooth washer, making sure that the teeth on the washer face towards the hitch when installed. Next we'll go ahead and put our hitch up into position. With our hitch raised up into position we can go ahead and install all the hardware just hand tight for now. Now that all of our hardware has been installed we can go ahead and tighten it down and then torque it to the manufacturer's specification. That will do it for the installation of the CURT trailer hitch receiver, part number C13524, on our 2001 Toyota RAV4. .
