P5! BNSF 5808 Wayzata Sub Chase| 5/27/2025

P5s are not what you’d normally hear on a Class 1 mainline, even more so on the BNSF. 5808 leads U-BSCNYF, ethanol loads from Big Stone City, SD to north yard in Fort Worth, Texas, a little unusually routing as it would normally take the Marshall Sub but today it took the Wayzata Sub out of Willmar. Before the chase I get greeted with Willmar’s east local. Twice a week train that works Atwater, Howard Lake, Montrose, and Grove City. We see the train sprint through Dassel with 15 cars, after that I went west to find 5808. We start the chase at Litchfield as 5808 leads its 110 cars loaded with ethanol through town, doing good speed here but would soon have to hold for the East Local at Dassel. Once the east local got in the clear at Howard Lake after working Montrose. 5808 was good to go, and the chase resumed at Cokato, running at a good clip. Just barely make it to Howard Lake in time for a runby and then made my way to Independence. A little further down the line they would hold at Wayzata for about two hours until finally getting a route through town. A little slow but I was pretty happy to finally get this unit on a subdivision that I’ve railfanned my whole life.
