Paragons Of Wonderfall (Neon Jungle Version/OC) [2011] | 2:18:43 Released on October 14th, 2025: Bandcamp: https://jorygaldia.bandcamp.com/album... [free to download] 20 years ago from this year is when I started making music near the end of 8th grade into the Summer of 2005, into freshman year of high school. I met a friend named Jeremy who has a brother and introduced us to his music in FL Studio (more like they both re-introduced me to it, I used to mess with the speech function on it even earlier at a family friends house). Eventually his brother lent us a file of samples ambiguously called "Extra Samples" which is what most of these song are made from, including the default sounds of FL Studio 4 to FL Studio 10 or 11. This is from the years 14-20. The first and second tracks I ever made are "Revisiting" (without the ambience) and "Dreaming Sequence", then follows possibly "Brume I/05" and "Brkitdwn", but afterward I don't remember the order. We also listened to and watched a lot of anime AMVs on YouTube (mostly Naruto) and another friend put us on Lupe Fiasco and another Daft Punk (most of the compositional influence). The use of ambience in the mid 2000s with hip-hop percussions and rhythms is because of hip-hop being legitimately mainstream at the time, but also before this in the mid 90s, the first CD I really owned was the soundtrack to the video game Killer Instinct called "Killer Cuts" by Graeme Norgate and Robin Beanland, particularly the tracks "Oh Yeah!", "It's a Jungle" and "Do It Now!" introduced me to ambient pad sounds and warm synths, which this sample pack had. Warm, short pads that I've never heard really anywhere since. Like this dry but warm (and some cool) ambient pad sound. The idea of using watersheds of hi-hats comes from my friend, which we just did naturally; we didn't know how to cut the sample early, but by 2007 I learned more about the software. He didn't really continue making music after 2006. Even before that in the early 2000s another inspiration to eventually use ambience was the soundtrack to the video game Jet Set Radio Future in 2002 on Xbox, which is composed of various artists bridged by the work of Hideki Naganuma, Richard Jacques, The Latch Brothers (who is made up of Mike D of the Beastie Boys), and many others. Particularly the tracks "Sweet Soul Brother (B.B. Rights Mix)", "That's Enough (Remix)", "What About the Future" by Richard Jacques, "Latch Brother Bounce" and basically the entire uniqueness of the music affected and inspired me.. There are 7 tracks from 2008-2009 that are either lost for good, or may be on CDs at family places across the country that I would include. I still remember what they sound like. "Exoplasm", "Nigh Flux III", "The Airship Interstadial" and the last two tracks (which are originals found) I dug up in the past couple of months and had not heard in 14 years. These songs, "Nigh Flux" and "Nigh Flux II" would be the last songs I'd make before taking a break throughout 2012, and then make most of Aptitude in February 2013. (More shared on Bandcamp, if you're curious).
