Is Hierarchy in Polyamory Bad?

There are as many ways to do polyamory as there are people doing it. And not all of them are aligned with ethical non-monogamy as others are. Sometimes, when people or couples are transitioning from monogamy to polyamory, they will start with hierarchical polyamory. This is a system in which the primary couple has power and influence in the relationship that secondary partners do not have. This also creates room for a lot of passive hinging, where you can blame not being able to do certain things on a secondary partner. Now, I think hierarchy is different from prioritization. If you're nesting with one partner, that relationship will be different from the one you have with a long-distance partner. While I don't think prioritization is bad, it's actually normal and healthy, I find hierarchy creates a lot of unfair power imbalances.
