In this video I’m retrofitting a sliding door onto a shed after the steelwork was already fabricated and ready for delivery. Normally, when fitting a sliding shed door, the gable would be stepped out so the door runs underneath it and rain is kept outside. In this case, the door was added at the last minute, leaving no time to alter the gable in the usual way. Rather than rebuild the shed frame, I show how the door was retrofitted by welding on angled irons, fitting the sliding track, and adding flashing to create a clean, weather-tight result.
