Keep up with our Latest content here and on Instagram: @gentleartsnz @queenstown_jiujitsu The last week at Te Manawa was all about the berimbolo, but in actual fact the majority of the time was spent getting familiar with the wedge, the end-stage position of the bolo. The wedge is an excellent method of creating back exposure by stacking our opponent over their hips with our legs. I’ve seen bolos taught poorly many times, usually simply too quickly, and have adjusted my approach to it accordingly. This video shows the process we went through, working back from the wedge, and the team is looking fantastic with these back-takes. This material also follows a three week period we spent focussing on the fundamentals of back control, finishing from the back, taking the back from turtle and attacking with the strait-jacket. Check out the rest of those videos on our channel. The reason I mention this, is that unless you can effectively control a person from the back, the smoothest bolo back takes in the world won’t mean anything, as you’ll reach a position you can’t effectively control. You’ll have a really fancy way of getting nowhere and burning the gas in your tank in the process. Once you have a good grasp of those fundamentals, however, these techniques are extremely effective ways of positioning yourself to use them. Get stuck in. Have fun. See you again next week! Chea! Like and subscribe to support the channel as we grow and feel free to request content if you like the way we put these together! Paypal Donations: https://paypal.me/GentleArtsNZ?countr... Any financial contributions are directed towards improving the quality of content I can create. Youll notice things gradually changing and geowing already. Over the coming months I’d like to sort lights and get a laptop that can better handle what I’m putting it through. Your support means I can do that stuff faster and put out more videos so if you like where this is going, that’d be rad. If you’re thinking, “I’ll wait and see how it pans out first” I can hespect that, so chea! However, it costs nothing at all to follow the club on Insta at @queenstown_jiujitsu And to follow me at @gentleartsnz 🥦💚
