I traveled to the remote district of Churachandpur, Manipur, to uncover a story that feels like it’s straight out of the Bible. Hidden in the lush green hills of Northeast India, I met a community that has guarded a 2,700-year-old secret: they believe they are the Bnei Menashe, the descendants of the Lost Tribe of Menasseh, one of the ten tribes exiled from ancient Israel in the 8th century BCE. In this video, I sit down with these "Jewish Indians" who shared incredible oral histories passed down through generations—stories of a long journey across Central Asia and China before settling in Manipur and Mizoram. From ancient chants about crossing a "red sea" to the observance of the Sabbath and dietary laws, their connection to the Holy Land is undeniable. The Great Migration (Aliyah 2026) The dream of "returning home" is no longer just a prayer—it’s a reality. As of 2026, a massive historical shift is happening. The Israeli government has officially cleared the path for the remaining Bnei Menashe community to make Aliyah (immigration to Israel). I witnessed emotional scenes of families preparing their documents and holding their Israeli Passports, ready to leave their ancestral villages for a new life in Jerusalem and the Galilee. What you’ll see in this documentary: A Journey to the Heart of Manipur: Exploring the vibrant culture of Churachandpur and the challenges the community faces amidst local ethnic unrest. The "Lost Tribe" Connection: Understanding the historical and genetic links that led the Chief Rabbinate of Israel to recognize them as a Lost Tribe. The Choice to Stay or Go: Why some choose to remain in India while others feel a spiritual "pull" to Israel. Behind the Scenes of Aliyah: The logistics, the emotions, and the hope behind the $27 million resettlement plan currently underway. This isn’t just a travel vlog; it’s a front-row seat to a historical exodus. Whether you are interested in religious history, geopolitical shifts, or the incredible diversity of India, this story will stay with you. Facts & Highlights: Total Population: There are approximately 10,000 Bnei Menashe globally; nearly 5,000 have already migrated to Israel, with the rest currently in Manipur and Mizoram. The 2026 Goal: Over 1,200 people are cleared for migration this year alone as part of a 5-year integration plan. Roots: They are primarily from the Kuki, Mizo, and Hmar ethnic groups. Recognition: Recognized as a Lost Tribe in 2005 by Sephardi Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar.
