Roadtrip around Iceland: Day 17 (Lake Askja, Lake Víti) (01.08.2020)

We have reached the 17th day which is the last day of our trip. And it also turned out to be one of the hardest and most demanding days. We started the day in Snæfellsskáli hut and took F909 back to the road 910. A quick stop at Kárahnjúkar Hydropower Plant and then we started tackling the F910. It's one of the longest and trickiest F-roads and the views of the lunar landscape were just spectacular! After a long drive we arrived at Drekagil campsite and from there on it was road F894, which is heading towards Askja. Landscape there felt even more like it was from another planet. F894 ends at a carpark and from there on it's a hike to Askja. After seeing Askja and the small lake Víti next to it, it was time to start heading back to home. This meant driving back on the roads F894 and F910 and reaching the last F-road of that trip - F88. Eventually, we were back on route 1 and driving up north through Reykjahlíð, we soon were back in Húsavík, our hometown. :) #Iceland #F-roads #F910 #F894 #F88 #Askja
